The first doctor's appointment that my Mama took me on was an adventure in it of itself. Full of sharp tips and uncertainty... sort of.
I got out of the car for this place like I would any other place—eagerly and adventurously. But when I went inside, my perception of this "trip" changed.
Mama walked in the door uncertainly, then pressed a button on the wall. In only seconds, the wall before us slid open and she dramatically stepped over this 1-inch crack in the floor.
Following suit, I entered the small room.
Behind us, the wall slid closed, and I began sniffing the air, but then, there was a shake and then, a noise.
"It's okay," Mama said, rubbing my head as I stared at the floor, legs shaky.
The wall opened again, and we were in a different place. Mama stepped over the crack in the floor with the same drama as before.
This time, I sped after her, pressed close to her body as we exited, and glancing back, I eyed the wall as it closed again.
Dangerous thing, I decided.
She opened a door and entered a rather strong, smelling room. Too many candles, perhaps, or too many other herbal medicines in one place.
Who knows, honestly?
(some form of time skip)
She took out the needle as Mama sat down in a chair, and as soon as I saw the thin pointy thing, I hid behind Mama.
"Don't worry, it's not for you," Mama said, reaching her free arm down to rub my head. "It's okay."
I peeked out from behind her, still nervous.
Then the doctor lady STABBED MY MOTHER. But that wasn't the most shocking part. Mama didn't even flinch!
Wow, strong lady. I stared, approaching Mama's side again.
They began chattering on—without me, sadly—and I did hear something about her calling me a land mermaid, but I'm not sure what she meant by that.
Anyhow, I don't think I like the doctor's much. They have stabby needles, strong smells, and all these other things that are not very dog-friendly. Zero out of ten, not a fan. However, at least her rug smelled good!
